I've been doing some research around the web regarding the easiest and best way to create a simple installer application for .plugin files. My IDEs are deploying the .plugin file into AE's MediaCore folder right now, but of course I have to consider how they will eventually be installed by the end user.
I'm looking for a relatively easy solution for both OSX and Windows. I took a look at some of the cross platform solutions like Qt's installer-framework but that seems overly complicated--especially since i'm only targeting Windows and OSX. I do not mind making two different installers. Also, I'm only interested in installer creation tools that are free to use.
I found an OSX app called Packages that seems to do the trick, and WiX for Windows, but that didn't look terribly simple. Just wanted to throw this discussion up here to see what other devs are using for installing the plugin files.
